Friday, January 16 from 6 to 8 p.m
$10 per person donation to MOCA Jacksonville

J. Johnson Gallery opens the New Year with Black | White, an exhibition of works by over 15 artists including Polly Apfelbaum, Donald Baechler, George Condo, Sol Lewitt, James Nares, Louise Nevelson, and Pat Steir. The show presents a striking variety of monochromatic sculptures, paintings, prints, and photographs from the intimately-sized to immense. From subtle shading to crisp outlines, the stark color palette (or lack thereof) is a common thread running throughout the work in this exhibition.

The opening reception for Black | White on Friday, January 16 from 6 to 8 p.m. has been designed as a benefit opening for the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) Jacksonville, a private nonprofit visual arts and educational institution and cultural resource of the University of North Florida. All donations collected through this benefit opening will directly support exhibitions and programming at MOCA Jacksonville. Both J. Johnson Gallery and the downtown museum are committed to enhancing an appreciation of modern and contemporary art and Black | White was timed to coincide with MOCA Jacksonville’s WHITE exhibition (which opens to museum members the following Friday, January 23rd.)

To complete the $10 per person donation to MOCA Jacksonville in advance via credit card, guests attending the opening reception of Black | White can visit the Eventbrite page at bit.ly/blackwhiteatjjg Please note that only cash and checks (made out to MOCA Jacksonville) will be accepted at the door. (Guests can continue to register via credit card on the Eventbrite page through the end of the reception.)
